Description

 

Plant:   Annual, low-growing herb. 

Stem/s:   Procumbent or creeping, rooting at the nodes, much branched, up to 20 cm long or more, reddish-brown, and sparsely covered with whitish appressed hairs.

Leaves:  Alternate, compound, and petiolate; leaflets 3, unequal, the median larger, dark green, broadly obcordate, sinus of blade narrow or broad, hairless above with ciliate margins, thinly hairy beneath; stipules ± hairy.

Flowers:   Actinomorphic and hermaphrodite, solitary or 1-3 axillary; peduncles thinly hairy; sepals 5, oblong or obovate, pale green, thinly hairy, about 2/3 as long as petals; petals 5, oblong-obovate, yellow with rounded apex, glabrous; stamens 10 in 2 series, connate at base, anthers yellow, nearly orbicular, dehiscent longitudinally; ovary superior, styles 5, stigmas capitate.

Flowering time:    April-December

Fruit:   Cylindrical capsule with small spur-like appendage, thinly hairy.    

Habitat:    Waste ground, roadsides, gardens, from 0-1350 m alt.

Native:   Southeastern Asia.
